Simultaneous Angiography and Venography Techniques Compared at 7T
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Two techniques have been presented in the last year to acquire both angiographic and venographic information in a single acquisition (MRAV) using susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI). One uses a double echo approach with the shorter echo used for the angiography and the longer echo used for the venography (1). The other uses a single echo that is a compromise between the two with a contrast agent used to improve image quality (2). In this work we sought to apply and compare both of these techniques at 7T with the exception of not using a contrast agent with the single echo sequence. 7T should offer advantages for the single echo technique as the optimal echo time for the venography shortens with field strength bringing it closer to the short echo time needed for a good angiography possibly alleviating the need for a contrast agent.

Single Echo Simultaneous Angiography and Venography (MRAV) Techniques at 3T
Introduction: Several techniques have been presented in the last year to acquire both angiographic and venographic information in a single acquisition (MRAV) using susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI). However, these techniques either require a double echo acquisition (1) or a single echo with flip angles that tend to compromise the quality of either the angiography or venography (2). In this ...
متن کاملUltra high resolution venography using T2* weighted imaging at 7T MRI
Throughout the last two decades, MRI has been ameliorated by a dramatic increase in the field strength; from 0.015 to 7 Tesla (T) MR systems. Ultrahigh-field MR system (beyond 3T) has great potential to produce newly improved imaging capabilities for both clinical diagnosis and basic science research. The primary purpose of venography was the description of cerebral veins, but it has also been ...
متن کاملComparison of 3T and 7T susceptibility-weighted angiography of the substantia nigra in diagnosing Parkinson disease.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Standard neuroimaging fails in defining the anatomy of the substantia nigra and has a marginal role in the diagnosis of Parkinson disease. Recently 7T MR target imaging of the substantia nigra has been useful in diagnosing Parkinson disease. We performed a comparative study to evaluate whether susceptibility-weighted angiography can diagnose Parkinson disease with a 3T sc...
متن کاملHypertension correlates with lenticulostriate arteries visualized by 7T magnetic resonance angiography.
Hypertension, a major risk factor for stroke, is associated with altered arterial anatomy and function; however, the limited resolution of current imaging techniques has restricted the in vivo study of microvascular changes in the brain. In this report, we quantitatively examined the lenticulostriate arteries in hypertensive patients using ultrahigh-field 7T MRI. We compared the number of stems...
متن کاملUltra-high-field MR imaging in polymicrogyria and epilepsy.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Polymicrogyria is a malformation of cortical development that is often identified in children with epilepsy or delayed development. We investigated in vivo the potential of 7T imaging in characterizing polymicrogyria to determine whether additional features could be identified. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten adult patients with polymicrogyria previously diagnosed by using 3T...
